URGENT - Closure of Fayetteville Veterans Home

We recently learned of the impending short notice closing of the Fayetteville Veterans Home. This closing is necessary due to the deteriorating facility conditions that were recently determined to be beyond economic repair. The closing must be completed by 1 February 2024 and will displace 85 residents who require skilled nursing care. The NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is working to relocate these residents to suitable alternate facilities. However, there is still an urgent need to begin the process of replacing the old Veterans Home with a new one.

The MOAA NC Council of Chapters is joining other Veteran Service Organizations to ask our elected officials to expedite funding for a replacement Veterans Home. Barry Coyle has already contacted all the NC legislators in the SENCLAND Area on behalf of the Chapter.

If you would like to join in this advocacy effort as an individual, please contact your NC Senator and/or Representative using the information provided. Open the "Downloads" folder and:

1. Find the NC Legislator who represents you from the list.

2. Copy the Recommended Email Text into the body of an email. Customize/modify as needed.

3. Attach the three supporting documents.

4. Send.
