Greetings to all who have endured the challenges of preparing for Florence, making difficult decision to shelter-in-place or evacuate, finding a way home to SE NC, and then to recover and restore as best as possible. It has been stressful for all. The positive reports of people helping people, services being restored and minimal loss of life makes us all appreciate one another. Our next meeting should be interesting as people reconnect and tell a few war stories.
Due to Hurricane Florence, we modified our meeting/luncheon plans for October.
Because we agreed to host the NC Council of Chapters 4th Quarter Business Meeting in late October, we planned no Bluewater luncheon meeting on the first Tuesday, but instead planned our monthly meeting to coincide with the NCCOC event October 19-20.
The NC Council of Chapter (NCCOC) meeting will be at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Sat. morning Oct. 20th starting at 0800 which is open to all SENCLAND Members. Let me know if you are interested. We will have about 35 out of town guests staying at the Embassy Suites next to the Convention Center or with friends in the area. This is an opportunity to observe and participate in a State level meeting. It will be moderated by NCCOC President David Lee, CAPT, USNR(Ret).
On June 1, 2018 at Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington, NC, six area HS seniors were awarded a total of $7000 for university/college expenses by the Military Officers Association of America, SENCLAND Chapter.
